Fall is prime foraging season, but the plants that feed you well can have toxic look-alikes, and the land you're picking on almost always has rules attached. This checklist walks you through getting permission, learning what's actually safe to eat, and handling what you find so it doesn't go to waste — or make anyone sick.

Know Before You Go
